Some of the strikes by air traffic controllers in Europe originally scheduled for this week have been postponed, according to Eurocontrol. The Air Traffic Controllers European Unions Coordination union consortium organized the strikes to protest a number of Single European Sky proposals to alter current ATC safety and financial goals. German controllers completely cancelled their job action this week, while French controllers cancelled only their week-long strike in favor of a single day’s job action on January 30. Controllers in Italy, Slovakia, Portugal, Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria and Cyprus also plan ATC job actions on January 29 or 30. No reason was given for changes to the strike plans.
