New Germany-based engineering and maintenance organization 328 Support Services has signed an agreement with Mikado Capital to return four previously stored Dornier 328 Jets to service. Mikado Capital is a new purpose-built remarketing organization based in the British Virgin Islands, whose director Gunnar Thorvaldsson will be visiting EBACE this week.
Work started at the Oberpfaffenhofen facilities near Munich, Germany, on the first two former Atlantic Coast Airlines aircraft. The first aircraft is being modified to incorporate a 19-seat corporate shuttle configuration and will be operated by the Club328 executive jet company.
Club328 already flies one Dornier 328 Jet and one 328 corporate turboprop. The three other 328 Jets will be configured with a business Envoy 14-seat layout.
328 Support Services was created in January following the acquisition by Club328 of the assets of former AvCraft Aerospace in Germany. 328 Support Services is in charge of supporting the existing fleet of 200 plus Dornier 328 jets and turboprops in Europe, the Americas and Asia, including China.
The company sees a strong market for the aircraft, which are able to perform a number of special-mission roles such as freighter or air ambulance. There are about 60 Dornier 328 aircraft parked in the U.S. and Europe.
The last production aircraft 328 Jet has just been reconfigured for corporate use at Oberpfaffenhofen. The aircraft (registered TF-PNA) entered service in late March with Icelandic operator Nordic Wings (on the City Star Airlines AOC) and is now available for charter Europe-wide.
This aircraft has been fitted as an Envoy, full business class 14-seat layout and will be available for viewing on the EBACE static display.
Separately, Club328 recently appointed Alan Hudson, a former captain with the British Royal Air Force’s Royal Squadron, as chief operating officer reporting directly to chief executive Mike Farge.
