AOPA supports proposed changes to streamline the process of awarding airport improvement program grant assurances, but also told the FAA that it must “maintain its authority to enforce grant obligations in order to protect the nation’s general aviation airports.” The pilot association made clear that it “would oppose any changes that would divert general aviation airport funds to uses other than maintenance and infrastructure improvement.” The

Megadata sells its data products under the Passur name, a contraction of the term “passive secondary surveillance radar.”
This Raytheon Hawker 800XP operated by UK charter firm Markoss Aviation has been approved to operate at London City Airport. The UK Civil Aviation Authority requires that the aircraft type and individual operator’s aircraft and crew get clearance to use the downtown gateway’s 5.5-degree steep approach. Markoss is based at nearby Biggin Hill Airport and its 800XP is currently the only UK-based example of its type approved for London City.
Business aviation has more than a toehold in Russia, as evidenced by this photo shot recently at Moscow Vnukovo Airport. On the ramp in the foreground are a pair of Challengers, a pair of Learjet 45s and two Hawkers. Rampant construction is obviously under way, indicating that future expansion is included in the airport’s master plan for private aircraft.
Swissport Executive Aviation is preparing for a start-up next month of business aircraft handling operations at Spain’s Malaga Airport from the general aviation terminal. It will compete with existing handling groups General Aviation Services, United Airport Services, Servisair, Sart and Iberia, although the last three companies focus largely on airline handling.
The FAA has implemented performance- based navigation in the form of standard instrument departures (SIDs), en route Q and T routes, standard arrival routes (Stars) and RNP special and Rnav approaches.

Construction was scheduled to begin before the end of last year on converting private Air Rice Airport on Houston’s west side into a public business aviation facility, to be known as South Waller Airport, initially with a 4,500-foot runway. Its private developers plan to extend the runway to 7,000 feet as the airport grows.
