Jet Aviation has announced that it will invest between $8 and $10 million to build an FBO at Viracopos Airport in Campinas, about 62 miles from São Paulo. The operation will be Jet Aviation’s first in Latin America and will offer aircraft maintenance and ground services.

Corporate Jets at Scottsdale Airport, Ariz., recently opened its new 3,000-sq-ft crew lounge. The new facility, on the second floor overlooking the ramp, features three separate seating areas with wall-mounted plasma television screens, kitchen, showers, a conference room and individual flight-planning areas.

TACAir has shelved plans to build a new FBO at Little Rock, Ark. Adams Field (LIT), citing “inability to obtain an attractive lease” and escalating costs associated with the proposed leasehold.

Last month, the FAA followed up on a March 11 e-mail, warning pilots about lax departure operations at Teterboro Airport (TEB), N.J. Premier/West Star expects to complete an extensive interior and exterior renovation of its FBO lobby this month, and is set to break ground on a new 40,000-sq-ft hangar at its Walker Field location in Grand Junction, Colo.

A disgruntled pilot reports that he ad visited a well known FBO at a busy, major-market airport recently and found  binder openly displayed on the counter with tail numbers, itineraries and other information of incoming flights, including his. He said the customer service representative explained that the notebook was there for the convenience of limo drivers so they could monitor the ETAs of their incoming customers.

Wilson Air Center has quietly acquired Fletcher Aviation at Houston Hobby Airport (HOU). Wilson’s Memphis facility has rated at the top of AIN’s FBO Survey for the past six years, and owner Bob Wilson recently signed on as the contract FBO for the airport authority at Charlotte-Douglas (N.C.) International Airport, where a new facility is under construction.

Signature Flight Support announced November 2 a single purchase involving two FBOs: Long Beach Million Air and another at Oxnard Airport near Santa Barbara. The facility at Oxnard will serve as a reliever to Signature’s busy operation at Santa Barbara Municipal Airport.
