Although relatively small, the Jetlan AR230 onboard file server from Pentar Avionics is big where it counts: performance and features. Dual processors (PC plus avionics), nine-port Ethernet switch, wireless (802.11x) access point, ISDN interfaces and avionics interfaces are all provided in this 2-MCU package weighing in at six pounds.

Designed, tested and built to the most stringent avionics certification and reliability standards (including DO-160D, DO-178 and DO-254), the AR230 is a true avionics LRU, not an off-the-shelf computer or re-packaged commercial avionics, Pentar says. It is compatible with standard PC applications and wireless standards, making a good choice for operators seeking a wi-fi hub to handle high-speed-data satcom systems including Ku Band systems, Swift64 and the future Inmarsat SwiftBroadband suite of services. List price of the product is $29,500.
