Building on OEM-sponsored programs for by-the-hour airframe and powerplant maintenance, Intermarket Insurance Agency has introduced Av-Tec Equipment Maintenance Management Solutions for avionics. The program is designed to control and more effectively manage the costs associated with maintaining avionics equipment.
“Av-Tec [lets] aircraft owners control previously volatile avionics maintenance expenses,” said Anthony Giaccone, president of Intermarket Insurance. “Customers can now budget for those costs with no change in the quality and timeliness of their service.”
Unlike more predictable airframe and engine maintenance events, avionics equipment can be a major expense that varies dramatically from year to year. According to Giaccone, Av-Tec helps resolve these issues by charging its customers a set annual fee to cover all repair, service and preventive maintenance. Then, when a device covered by Av-Tec requires maintenance, the customer contacts the vendor of his choice to arrange for service. Once the service has been completed, the customer sends a copy of the service report and invoice to the program administrator who, per the customer’s preference, either reimburses the owner of the aircraft or pays the service provider directly.
Av-Tec, which is available for jets, turboprops and helicopters, offers maintenance contracts with a single point of contact and renewal date for all covered equipment, the flexibility to add or remove equipment at any time, real-time reporting of equipment service histories and the ability to use the customer’s vendor of choice. Av-Tec program services are managed by Milwaukee-based Specialty Underwriters.
