EADS Socata has appointed IndUS Aviation the authorized sales representative in India for its TBM 700 and 850 turboprop singles. The Indian company, which builds light aircraft at facilities in Dallas and Bangalore, India, will also establish a product and customer support operation for the TBM line in India.

Dr. Ram Pattisapu, president of India’s Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, founded IndUS Aviation, which produces the two-seater Thorp T-211 trainer and markets it in India.

“Our ambition is to provide aviation to people, not just sell airplanes,” Pattisapu said. “We are anticipating growing transportation needs in India, as fast-paced businesses in our country are slowed by the poor pace, accountability and infrastructure of India’s ground transportation system.” In his opinion, the TBM 850 will soon find acceptance in the country’s emerging executive charter market.
