Blurry photos supposedly taken from the inside of the Gol Airlines 737 after it collided with an Embraer Legacy 600 on September 29 over the Amazon jungle making the rounds through e-mail are a hoax, according to several reputable sources, including mythbuster Snopes.com and the NTSB. “The images displayed above have nothing to do with that tragic accident,” Snopes.com said. “They’re screen shots from the pilot episode of the popular ABC television series Lost.” The Safety Board asked, “How could someone be standing in the plane taking a fairly clear photo with the tail broken off, and then be still standing to take another photo (somehow, someone is being sucked out of the plane but this guy is still standing taking photos)? The Gol plane was a 737, this is a widebody.” These kinds of photos are always hoaxes, according to an NTSB spokesman. “I assure you, if these were authentic, they would be splashed on major news outlets all over the world, not appearing in some e-mails making the rounds.”
