Dr. Lutz Bertling, former managing director of Eurocopter Deutschland, took over as president and CEO of Eurocopter in October last year and has also been appointed as a member of parent company EADS’s executive committee. He is the first German to head the Marignane, France-based manufacturer, founded as a Franco-German company in 1992.
Dr. Bertling’s association with Eurocopter began in 2003 as executive v-p of governmental helicopters. According to Eurocopter, his experience in international programs and industrial cooperation projects will bring “continuity in the company’s successful growth strategy.”
Dr. Bertling replaces Fabrice Brégier, who has moved up the EADS ladder to take over the COO position at troubled sister company Airbus. In a statement issued by EADS, the company said Brégier “will assist [Airbus] president and CEO Louis Gallois in the implementation of the ‘Power8’ recovery program,” and that he will also “be responsible for the operational management of the Airbus business.”
