Bell Helicopter announced last month it is relocating its commercial business unit’s worldwide sales and marketing offices and the Bell Training Academy to the facility formerly occupied by Galaxy Aerospace/Gulfstream at Fort Worth Alliance Airport, Texas. The relocation from Bell’s Fort Worth plant, about 15 miles to the south, was expected to begin early this month and will transfer more than 300 people to the 160,897-sq-ft office, hangar and warehouse facility at Alliance. The site was occupied by Galaxy Aerospace until its acquisition by Gulfstream in 2001. Gulfstream subsequently closed the Alliance site late last year. Bell’s new facility will also serve as the delivery center and training school for the Bell/Agusta BA609 tiltrotor, scheduled for certification in 2007. In addition to the building and hangars, Bell also acquired nearby off-airport property to support flight-training operations.
