A “fully interactive” moving map from DeCrane’s Audio International was also introduced at last month’s Aircraft Electronics Association Convention in Las Vegas. Coupled with Audio International’s Atlas onboard server, the moving map offers topographic maps and up to 11 levels of zoom capability and a variety of aircraft image shapes, sizes and configurations. Available options include city packages that provide “exceptional detail” with 10- to 15-meter resolution. The moving map also features such data as airspeed, altitude in configurable graph and text modes, distance traveled, distance to go, time at destination and time to destination. The user can also call up encyclopedic data on more than 200 countries, calculate distances between various cities and add or remove topographical information on the map.
