The ERA has named Spanish operator Air Nostrum its Airline of the Year for the fourth time in nine years. Factors influencing the selection included innovative finance arrangements covering Air Nostrum’s acquisition of Bombardier CRJ900s and participation in satellite navigation trials. Austria’s Tyrolean Airways placed second for employment, operational and technical achievements, while Irish carrier CityJet won the bronze award for its fleet rollover and repositioning to London City Airport.

Former Tyrolean Airways CEO Fritz Feitl received the ERA director general’s commendation for his recent chairmanship of the Industry Consultation Board, which advises the European Commission on the Single European Sky program, while ERA general assembly host carrier Aegean Airways received the association’s Palme d’Or for sustained excellence
