Travel to Venezuela Not Recommended

The U.S. Department of State issued a travel warning last month for Venezuela because of the “deteriorating political and security situation, accompanied by severe shortages in fuel and food.” Opponents of President Chavez began a general strike that has resulted in deaths and injuries, according to the State Department. Ground transportation is operating on a “very limited basis,” local airline service has been suspended and international flights “have been scaled back.” The warning remains in effect until March 5.
