Cessna Aircraft received the go-ahead from parent company Textron for development of a large-cabin, intercontinental aircraft that would expand the upper end of its Citation line. The manufacturer unveiled a mockup of the large-cabin concept twinjet at the 2006 NBAA Convention, and in September at NBAA 2007 Cessna chairman, president and CEO Jack Pelton told AIN he was confident the LCC would be launched in the first quarter. “We are extending the Citation line upward,” said Pelton. “We have invested a great deal of time in evaluating this concept…and we’re confident our efforts will result in an aircraft that is right for the marketplace.” Textron chairman, president and CEO Lewis Campbell said the company “expects to sell hundreds” of the large-cabin Citations. More details about the new Citation–including its model name, specifications and performance data–will be announced early this month.
