In The Works: Bombardier Global 5000

First flight of the Global 5000, a shortened version of the Global Express, is still scheduled for first quarter next year, and type certification by Transport Canada, the FAA and the JAA is on target for first quarter 2004. Entry into service is planned for the end of that year. Officially launched on February 5 this year, the 5000 is Bombardier’s 12th new airplane in 12 years.

Powered by two Rolls-Royce Deutschland BR710A2-20 turbofans, the Global 5000 is expected to achieve an eight-pax/three-crew NBAA IFR range of 4,800 nm at Mach 0.85, and 3,700 nm at Mach 0.88. Planned mtow is 87,950 lb, mlw is 78,600 lb, basic operating weight is 50,350 lb and max fuel weight is 36,000 lb. Launch price of a typically equipped Global 5000 is $32.95 million.
