Fractional Pilot Hiring Up 19 Percent from Last Year

The rate of pilot hiring this year by five major fractional aircraft ownership providers–CitationShares, Flexjet, Flight Options, NetJets and Corporate Aircraft Partners–is up 19 percent from last year, according to AIR Inc., an Atlanta-based aviation personnel career tracking and placement service. AIR reported that in July the fractionals hired 107 pilots, bringing this year’s seven-month hiring total to 723. Some 101 pilots were hired by fractionals in July last year; last year’s seven-month hiring total was 607. Fractionals hired a total of 1,038 pilots in all of last year vs 1,363 in 2000, AIR data showed. AIR projects that 1,322 pilots will be hired by the top fractionals this year.
