D&D Design of West Milford, N.J., is marketing an FAA-approved kit for alerting Gulfstream IV operators of an insufficient air supply required to inflate the seals around the main door, baggage door and cargo door. The system is designed to alert the crew through a warning light in the Eicas or annunciator panel. A D&D official told AIN that door-seal pressure can be a problem in GIVs because of moisture buildup in the air lines. The GII and GIII do not have this problem because the air going through the lines is hotter and there is less moisture build up, according to D&D. Gulfstream V door seals are held in place by cabin pressure. The STC’d kit costs $5,925 and is available directly from D&D by calling (973) 728-8814. D&D estimates 12 hr for installation.
