Flightline First opened a new FBO facility at Lakefront Airport in New Orleans late last month. The FBO is located in a classic building dating from the 1920s next to the airport’s famous art deco terminal building, which is undergoing restoration to its former glory. Both the terminal and Fliteline’s 20,000-sq-ft hangar were heavily damaged during Hurricane Katrina.

New Orleans architect John Chrestia is responsible for restoring the Fliteline facility and retained the exterior’s art deco styling. Inside, Chrestia combined elements of stainless steel, glass and stone as well as bamboo to “bring warmth to the cool tones of the finishes,” according to Fliteline. A freestanding bamboo pylon encloses a 52-inch tv monitor in the lobby. Other features include a 10-seat conference room with 42-inch monitor, a marble hospitality bar in the lobby with fresh coffee and other beverages, and a pilot lounge with three reclining chairs each equipped with headphones and a 14-inch monitor with DirecTV.
