Innotech Aviation in Montreal is closing in on an FAA STC permitting installations of ViaSat Ku-band satellite data hardware aboard the Bombardier Global Express. ViaSat’s Yonder Ku-band service provides data connections in flight of up to 10 megabits per second, making it the fastest commercial Internet service available. The onboard hardware and tail-mounted antenna cost about $800,000 and the monthly service fee is $6,000 for unlimited use. The Yonder service, which provides broadband Internet and streaming tv connectivity, is now available throughout most of the world. The installation takes about 15 days, according to Innotech. –Stephen Pope
