Bahamian FBO operator Odyssey Aviation plans to open its new permanent facility at Exuma International Airport (MYEF) this month. The company–which also runs an FBO at Nassau International Airport–has operated out of a rented office at MYEF since 2009. Odyssey’s decision to open a facility at Exuma was based on the growing amount of international private traffic arriving there and the demand for GA-specific services.
Separate from the main airport terminal, the 2,500-sq-ft facility will feature standard FBO amenities, including passenger and pilot lounges, a flight-planning room and refreshment bar, along with available in-house Bahamian customs and immigration clearance. The FBO is also to have its own private fuel farm and two acres of ramp space for aircraft parking.
The building has already passed its first test of durability. As Hurricane Irene roared over the Bahamas in late August leaving a trail of destruction in its wake, the storm caused no damage to the new structure.
