Avidyne has announced development of the IFD510 RNP-capable GPS navigation system with touchscreen user interface. The new unit is a slide-in replacement for existing Garmin GPS500/w GPS-only navigators and an extension of Avidyne’s plug-and-play avionics line. “The IFD510 will be ideally suited for turbine-class aircraft owners looking to move into a higher-capability FMS with an exceptionally easy to use touchscreen user interface,” said COO Patrick Herguth. “Its design lets pilots who have been flying with GPS500/W series navigators easily upgrade to the IFD510 with little aircraft down time.” The IFD510 retails for $14,995, including tray and installation kit, and should be available in the second half of 2012. An integrated Taws-B option is an additional $7,995.
