Townsend Leather has introduced a Grand Damask leather design from the Roger Thomas Collection inspired by the tooled leather walls created for Catherine de Médicis and noble families of the 16th century.

De Médicis, the force behind the ruthless efforts to keep the Valois monarchy on the French throne in the mid-1600s, was also a strong patron of the arts.

The Johnstown, N.Y.-based leather supplier describes the new Médicis damask as “classic in feel but updated.” It comes in eight colors and the 27-inch by 27-inch panels are handcrafted with shimmering, foiled accents and hand-applied striations.
