International Water Guard (IWG) of Burnaby, British Columbia, has received approval from Brazilian aviation authorities for installation of its IWG-A4 potable water treatment unit on Embraer’s Legacy 600 and Legacy 650.

Approval from the Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil represents the initial introduction of the IWG ultraviolet treatment system into the Brazilian OEM’s business jet fleet. It is available on new aircraft and as an after-market item on the existing 600/650 fleet. The first installation was done by IWG’s Brazilian partner, Avionics Services of São Paulo.

The Canadian company also plans to obtain certification validation of the water purification unit from the FAA and EASA, further opening up the Legacy 600 and 650 market outside Brazil.
