Wilson Air Center has begun the second phase of expanding its FBO at Houston Hobby Airport. Phase one consisted of a total renovation of its existing facility, including pilots’ lounges and snooze rooms, a presidential suite and more than 80,000 sq ft of hangar space. The next installment will include the construction of a 25,000-sq-ft hangar, capable of accommodating the G650, along with a new office complex. The project is scheduled for completion in the spring. After that, the service provider chain expects to launch the third phase of the multimillion-dollar project, which will include a new 10,000-sq-ft executive terminal featuring a 35-foot-tall, all-glass façade showcasing views of the airport and downtown Houston. Also planned is the addition of another 100,000 sq ft of ramp space to support the recent increase in traffic at the airport and the new terminal operation.
A fourth phase, yet to be finalized, calls for the construction of more private and community hangars as well as up to 20 upscale “condo hangars” for aircraft owners seeking increased privacy and security, along with their FBO and concierge services.
