Universal Weather & Aviation has raised its presence in France, as airport-owned FBO Le Castellet Airport becomes a co-branded member of Universal’s FBO network. Under the terms of the deal, Universal will partner with the airport to operate the FBO to provide standards, training and procedures consistent with the company’s other locations.

“Our partnership will help increase our clients’ operating flexibility when traveling to the high-traffic South of France region,” said Jonathan Howells, Universal’s senior vice president. “Le Castellet is on the Cotes d’Azur and will provide our clients with longer-term parking options, as well as an extremely convenient jumping-off point for road or helicopter transfers to destinations such as St. Tropez and nearby locations.”

The airport has a 6,000-foot runway, hangars that can accommodate a 737-based BBJ, and fonsite luxury hotels. “Le Castellet is seeing increased traffic and usage as both a great destination and a technical stop in the Cotes d’Azur region,” said Francois Andre, the airport’s director general. “We believe Universal Aviation will enhance service levels for operators to Le Castellet.”

Universal provides ground handling services in 19 countries.
