EV-55 Outback

Malaysian company Aspirasi Pertiwi signed an agreement to invest in Kunovice, Czech Republic-based Evektor, which will help fund final development and production of the twin-engine EV-55 Outback utility airplane. The companies expect the June 26 agreement will eventually reach a total investment of $200 million.

“The agreement will support not only the development of the aviation industry in our country,” said Czech ambassador Rudolf Hykl, “but it will also open other business and commercial opportunities for the Czech side in Malaysia.”

The nine- to 14-seat EV-55 was the first aircraft program to select Esterline CMC’s SmartDeck avionics suite. The EV-55 first flew in 2011.
