The GPS approach is out, and the Rnav approach is in. That’s because many pilots tend to think of GPS as a land-based navaid like a VOR, NDB or as a part of an ILS, and experts believe that thinking is misleading. Pilatus Aircraft last month announced that the warranty period for all Honeywell avionics installed in new Pilatus PC-12s has been extended from two to three years. The new warranty benefit is applicable starting with PC-12 S/N 482 and covers standard Honeywell equipment, including the EFIS 40 displays; KFC 325 autopilot; KLN 90B GPS; RDR 2000 weather radar; and KC 165A navcom.
Raytheon Aircraft is offering T2CAS as an option to ensure that 1900C and 1900D operators meet the avionics mandates coming next year. The T2CAS from ACSS is an integrated system combining TCAS II and class-A TAWS. Initial certification of T2CAS in the 1900C is expected this quarter, followed by 1900D certification.
A newly designed circuit board is now available for Citation 525 and a few Citation 560 operators that have been required since late last year to disengage their pitch trim and autopilot servo circuit breakers to prevent a possible runaway trim. The FAA has proposed mandatory replacement of the breakers, installation of which is covered under warranty for the Model 525.
BAE Systems is out and a number of new suppliers are in, according to Eclipse Aviation officials, who announced the signing of long-term contracts with six additional vendors for the avionics and digital automatic flight controls on the Eclipse 500 after reshuffling the original supplier team.

Barco introduced its MDU-2000 line of mission display units at Booth No. 441 here at Heli-Expo. The Belgian company said the MDU-2000 displays deliver high-performance cockpit technology yet are cost-effective as displays for a cabin-grade airborne mission.
