Cessna Aircraft celebrated Christmas two days early with first deliveries today of both the new Citation M2 and the Citation Sovereign+ models. Deliveries began immediately following certifications by the Federal Aviation Administration, with the first M2 going to best-selling author, pilot and former Citation Mustang owner Stuart Woods.

The first-flight schedule has slipped by a few months for the LAR 1, the five-place, single-engine very light jet unveiled by Podgórzyn, Poland-based Flaris in June at the Paris Airshow. It was slated to fly by year-end, but Flaris told AIN that the maiden flight will now occur some time in the first half of next year.

Honda Aircraft celebrated the 10-year anniversary of the HondaJet prototype’s first flight on Tuesday. “The proof-of-concept HondaJet first flight was a pinnacle moment,” Honda Aircraft president and CEO Michimasa Fujino told AIN. “Our team had spent years researching and testing the advanced theories and concepts incorporated into the aircraft’s innovative design,” which includes its over-the-wing engine mounting.

Asian Sky Group completed a regional survey to gauge Chinese aircraft operators’ interest in a new, but unspecified, business jet that is in currently in development. As part of its research, the company conducted face-to-face interviews with large-cabin business jet operators in Greater China, focusing on senior leaders involved in business jet procurement decisions. Interviewees were asked about aircraft price, range, cabin dimensions, speed and branding as well as about public perception and environmental, regulatory, and airport issues.

Independent cabin completion centers approved by Boeing to outfit the business aviation version of the Dreamliner are gearing up for delivery of their first aircraft, expected before year-end. Gore Design Completions of San Antonio and Jet Aviation Basel in Switzerland have been preparing to meet the unique challenge of building and installing highly customized interiors in the all-composite fuselage of the 787 for a year or more, sending teams of engineers to receive training at Boeing’s Seattle facilities.

The first Learjet 28 Longhorn (Serial Number 28-001) cruised at 50,000 feet somewhere between Allentown, Pa., and Mattoon, Ill., when the thought hit me. The late Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon, had flown this same airplane and here I was riding in the cabin.

The second Gulfstream G650 to sell on the pre-owned market sold for $70 million via The Jet Business in London earlier this month. The private individual who took delivery of the new wide-cabin jet in July sold it to a Japanese property group for a profit of approximately $10 million. Steve Varsano, owner of The Jet Business, said he is currently in negotiations to sell another G650, “hopefully within the short term.” Gulfstream enforces strict anti-speculation clauses on its aircraft until they have been delivered.

Dassault pilots performed the first “simulated flight” of the Falcon 5X on November 13, providing insight into how the business jet will behave in flight. The Falcon “simulation bench” is closer to a flight simulator than an iron bird, according to Dassault.

Dassault is preparing to deliver the first Falcon 2000S to be based in India next month, following certification by India’s aviation authority on November 1. The new twinjet will be based in Bangalore. To date, Dassault has handed over 10 Falcon 2000Ss since deliveries started in April.
