At the Dubai Air Show last month, Tbilisi Aerospace Manufacturing (TAM) of Tbilisi, Georgia (the former Soviet Republic, not the Peachtree State), featured as part of its small stand a wall-size photograph of the twin-engine Maverick Jet kitplane.
Englewood, Colo.-based Adam Aircraft expects FAA certification of its centerline-thrust A500 piston twin in the first quarter of this year and first deliveries by March, according to a company spokesman. Last year at this time the company was estimating certification in the second quarter of 2003; this was subsequently revised to the fall of 2003. “There’s no one thing in particular that caused the delay,” a spokesman said.
Embraer this spring expects to complete certification that will increase the service ceiling of the Legacy business jet from FL370 to FL410. Later this year, Embraer will introduce an optional Chelton data system that will boost the Legacy’s high-speed connectivity from the current 128 kbps to 432 kbps. A new cabin LED lighting system and pleated mechanical window shades are also scheduled to be integrated into the Legacy later this year.
Three months after receiving certification for its winglets on the Hawker 800, Aviation Partners has received FAA approval for installing winglets on the Hawker 800XP.
Aviation Partners said last month it received Transport Canada certification of its Hawker 800 blended winglet modification. The approval allows operators of the approximately 20 Canadian-registered Hawker 800s to consider the upgrade.
The first Citation Mustang test aircraft was towed from Cessna’s Pawnee facility in Wichita late last month for initial engine runs. According to a company spokeswoman, the engine run was one of the remaining systems tests to be completed before first flight, which is officially “this summer” but could occur this month.
Pratt & Whitney Canada is striving to keep fuel burn on target for its PW307A engine, which will power the Dassault Falcon 7X. Based on results from the first series of engine flight tests, the Longueuil, Quebec-based manufacturer is confident it will avoid the fuel-consumption problem it had on the PW308C for the Falcon 2000EX.
Bombardier reported that it has received type approval for the Learjet 45 from the civil aviation agency of China (CAAC). In addition to paving the way for operators to register Learjet 45s in that country, the approval also extends to other models in the Learjet 40 series. The first civil operator to benefit from this approval will be charter operator Global Wings of Tokyo, which plans to base two Learjet 45XRs in Beijing.
The G150, which Gulfstream touts as the first wide-cabin, long-range, midsize business jet, rolled out January 18 in Tel Aviv in front of hundreds of Israel Aircraft Industries employees, officials from both companies, supplier representatives and certifying authorities.
