The design of the stainless steel inlets is made more complex by the fact that they must act as radiators to dissipate the 800-deg F heat of the FJ44’s bleed air, which will provide full-time anti-ice protection to the engines.

In a bid to expand its capabilities to service larger turbine engines, Standard Aero has purchased turbine engine component overhauler TSS Aviation of Cincinnati, Ohio, for $65 million. Standard Aero and Landmark Aviation were purchased by Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE) from private-equity firm Carlyle Group last month for $1.9 billion.
Pratt & Whitney Canada’s new PW535E turbofan engine for the Embraer Phenom 300 has reached its full takeoff thrust of 3,360 pounds at the company’s Longueuil, Quebec test facility. Embraer chose the PW535E turbofan in May 2005 to power the Phenom 300.
Pratt & Whitney Canada is seeing its engines enter service on three new business airplanes this year–the Dassault Falcon 7X, Cessna Mustang and Eclipse 500–and the powerhouse has made it a priority to advance support activities that previously would have been spread over a longer time, Maria Della Posta, vice president of customer support, told NBAA Convention News.
