Mark Fairchild, v-p of sales and marketing for Sino Swearingen Aircraft, announced two firsts at the company’s press conference on Monday, both involving the long-awaited SJ30-2. The FAA has issued the first SJ30-2 customer type rating this past August, and the first production model of the high-performance twinjet will be delivered as early as next week. The airplane, S/N 006, is in final testing.
Fairchild could not, however, say when subsequent models would be in customer hands. “I’m new in this position,” Fairchild said, “and I can’t give an estimate at this time when we’ll deliver.” At present, Sino Swearingen has orders for 302 of the Model SJ30, selling in the $6 million range, 99 of which have been ordered directly by private customers.
A full-size SJ30-2, S/N 005, is currently in the hall at the Sino Swearingen display (Booth No. 2171).
