Highlighting the rising demand for business jets in Europe, Bombardier Aerospace yesterday announced sales for its two newest models, the Challenger 605 and Learjet 60XR. Developed as replacements for existing models, the airplanes included in the deals are slated for delivery to operators in Austria and Eastern Europe.

VistaJet, a Swiss executive charter company with operations based in Salzburg, Austria, placed an order for three Challenger 605s and taken option ositions on two additional airplanes. The company is currently in the process of converting its entire fleet to Bombardier products, a strategy that will give it full access to earning revenues from the Bombardier Skyjet International block charter network.

Farther east, Bulgaria-based Nove Holding became the European launch customer for the Learjet 60XR with an order announced yesterday. Another unnamed company, based in the Czech Republic, placed the second European Learjet 60XR order, Bombardier announced. This airplane will be managed for the client by ABS Jets of Prague.

Announced last November, the Challenger 605 replaces the 604, adding a more modern Rockwell Collins avionics suite and cabin electronics. The Learjet 60XR replaces the venerable Learjet 60, more than 300 of which have been built at the factory in Wichita, Kansas. Both new models are scheduled to enter service in next year’s fourth quarter.
