Business jet and turboprop shipments were both up roughly 15 percent in the first half of this year, compared to the first six months of last year, according to data released last week by the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA). There were 475 jet and 182 turboprop shipments in the first six months of this year, according to GAMA. Billings for the entire industry (including pistons, which decreased in shipments) were also up, for a total of almost $10 billion. Shipments for both jets and turboprops increased quarter-over-quarter as well. The industry shipped a total of 264 jets and 105 turboprops in the second quarter of the year, compared to 226 jets and 99 turboprops during the same period last year. Cessna, Dassault and Gulfstream all sent approximately 25-percent more aircraft out the door during the second quarter of this year when compared to last. Hawker Beechcraft, however, actually saw a decline, shipping only 64 turboprops and jets, versus 69 last year.
