The FAA has awarded FlightSafety International (Booth Nos. 5051 and 5250) a single Part 142 certificate for its network of learning centers. The certificate is to be presented here today at the FlightSafety exhibit.
The consolidation of FlightSafety’s 27 individual certificates into one will allow the company to “develop and deliver new and current training programs more efficiently,” according to Greg McGowan, FlightSafety vice president of center operations. The consolidation will also streamline the management of the learning center operations and ensure effective communication between the Wichita FSDO office and FlightSafety’s training center program manager, also based in Wichita.
FlightSafety is also displaying here at NBAA the names of more than 5,000 pilots and aviation technicians who have received SafetyStar Certification. The certificate is issued to pilots who have received at least eight consecutive FlightSafety ProCards and exceeded the ATP/Practical Test Standards and to technicians who have achieved Master Technician Certification. In addition, the National Training & Simulation Association honored the company for outstanding achievements in the development or application of models and simulators, and presented an additional award in recognition of its contribution to the design and development of the U.S. Army Aviation Warfighting Center electric-motion and control-loading-equipped flight simulators.
The company has also announced the addition of a new 70,000-sq-ft helicopter training center in Lafayette, La., with training scheduled to begin next year; the production of two new Sikorsky S-76D simulators at the Lafayette center and the West Palm Beach, Fla. training center; and the addition of Citation Mustang training at the Orlando, Fla. training center.
In addition, it revealed that PrivatAir is the newest subscriber to FSI’s Web-based TrainingLink service and that it has developed FlightCast, a new podcast training service. The company also has added new Web-based training courses, including TCAS II (version seven), P-Rnav and ILS/PRM to its Enrichment Subjects Library.
