Emteq has received FAA supplemental type certification (STC0359AT) for the industry’s first chip-on-board technology 400-candela anti-collision exterior light system designed for Part 25 airplanes. The light was designed primarily by Emteq’s flight components division in Bachenbulach, Switzerland, working with engineers at Emteq’s New Berlin, Wis. headquarters. The LED anti-collision light is designed so that it can be fitted to a variety of aircraft by changing the adapter plate; the internal components remain the same, according to Sam Matar, director of global aftermarket business development. LED anti-collision lights weigh less and are lighter than traditional strobes, according to Emteq, which also manufactures tail and navigation lights as well as combination light assemblies. The first customer for Emteq’s 400-candela LED anti-collision light is Lynden Air Cargo, which is installing the system on its Lockheed L-382s (civil version of the C-130 Hercules). The LED anti-collision light will be eligible for installation on most Part 25 airplanes, according to Emteq.
