Mid Continent Controls of Derby, Kans., a manufacturer of cabin management and in-flight entertainment system controls, is showcasing a new media server for the cabin here at Booth No. 2656.

As entertainment-hungry travelers know, it’s never been practical to bring a large media library on board an aircraft given the number of music discs, movie DVDs and other content many passengers own. Mid Continent’s new media server can hold hundreds of hours of movies, music, personal video and images, all accessible with the touch of a finger. Menu navigation and selection are accomplished with a simple, user-friendly interface displayed on a cabin monitor. Wireless remote input accommodates remote operation of the system.

The media server also liberates the cabin from the clutter of media discs and their cases and containers. Compact and lightweight, the media server module can be installed in any orientation in an out-of-the-way nook or in a cabinet. It is small enough for installation on light business aircraft where space and weight are a premium, but has the capacity to handle the entertainment choices of a full cabin of passengers in a large business jet, the company notes. Mid Continent will begin taking orders for the media server in the fourth quarter. The cost is not yet determined.

The company also manufacturers auto-configuration systems, stereo amplifiers, video distribution amplifiers, source equipment, switch panels, and AC outlets, jacks and relays for business aircraft cabins.
