Buyers of new Bell helicopters now get a two-year subscription to the Web-based SkyBooks electronic logbook system for each helicopter purchased beginning with August 2008 certifications. The full-service SkyBooks subscription comes with purchase of a Bell 206B, 206L, 407, 412 and 427, each with specific serial-number applicability. When delivered from Bell or a designated completion center, each new helicopter comes with the SkyBooks account loaded with the “as built” configuration data and “as modified” data for serialized components, current maintenance-manual inspection intervals, life-limited components, lubrication schedules, Airworthiness Directives, factory service information, instructions for continued airworthiness and applicable wiring diagrams, “all preloaded and ready-to-go as soon as the customer receives the aircraft,” according to Bell. The helicopter manufacturer purchased SkyBooks from Aerospace Investments in January. In addition to maintenance tracking, SkyBooks also offers electronic document preservation and flight operations tools such as fleet status, airworthiness status and pilot availability and currency.
