Rockwell Collins’ Venue high-definition cabin management system (CMS) was recently awarded the Red Dot Design award and the Industrial Designers Society of America Northwest Design Invitation award for high-quality design. The announcements were made here on Monday. Rockwell Collins (Booth No. 1043) worked with Teague, a Seattle-based industrial design consultancy, to develop Venue’s intuitive user interface, including OLED (organic light-emitting diode) display and icon-based switch panels that use programmable soft buttons. The CMS also allows passengers to plug iPod and iPhone devices into the system for distribution through the cabin, and in-the-seat remote allows control through a virtual iPod menu.
