Bell Helicopter announced yesterday at the NBAA Convention that it received FAA certification for its new $2.865 million, single-engine 407GX, which is equipped with Garmin G1000H glass panel avionics. Bell announced the helicopter at Heli-Expo in February and received Transport Canada certification earlier this year. Bell has booked more than 60 orders for the 407GX and production is sold out through the end of next year. The 407GX is the first production helicopter equipped with the G1000H. The system features two 10.4-inch-high LCD displays and an integrated avionics system that includes traffic information system, helicopter synthetic vision, moving map, helicopter terrain avoidance warning system and range-ring calculation. Additionally, the G1000H system has the ability to monitor system parameters, and its large screens can also display forward-looking infrared and camera images. Bell will deliver the first customer 407GX by year-end, it said.
