ABACE show host Shanghai Hawker Pacific Business Aviation Service Center (SHPBASC) has been approved by China’s Civil Aviation Administration (CAAC) to perform maintenance on Bombardier’s Global 5000 and ultra-long-range Global Express/XRS series of business jets. Shanghai Hawker Pacific is the first approved Part 145 facility in China. It has already begun maintenance work on Chinese-registered Globals and is currently awaiting U.S. Federal Aviation Administration certification to be able to work on U.S.-registered aircraft.
Another North American business aircraft manufacturer, Hawker Beechcraft, has just named Shanghai Hawker Pacific as its first authorized service center in mainland China. The Hawker Beechcraft Global Customer Support network now also consists of a new authorized service center in Hong Kong, additional sales and technical support representatives in Shanghai and Hong Kong, as well as parts distribution centers in Singapore and Beijing.
Meanwhile, SHPBASC has just announced plans to implement Corridor aviation service software, a package designed to automate all aspects of aviation maintenance and service, based on its ability to maintain compliance of safety and government regulations and its future growth capabilities. “Corridor is used by several OEMs we represent and a number of operators who fly to Shanghai,” said Carey Matthews, Shanghai Hawker Pacific’s general manager. “As the first MRO in China focused on business aviation, we selected Corridor to guarantee that we have the best software system possible and set a very high standard for the MRO and our customers right from the start of our business.”
SHPBASC is a joint venture between the Shanghai Airport Authority (which owns Hongqiao International and Pudong International Airports) and Australia-based Hawker Pacific. The facility is also an authorized service center for Dassault’s Falcon family of jets.
