NBAA and AOPA are using the political conventions in the U.S. this week and next as platforms to highlight the value of general aviation to policymakers and opinion leaders. They are at the Republican National Convention this week in Tampa, Fla., and will be at the Democratic National Convention next week in Charlotte, N.C.

Staffers from both organizations plan to speak with convention attendees about the economic benefits that general aviation provides, including support of a manufacturing base and a source of well paying jobs. NBAA representatives will also provide information about the productivity advantages that business aviation provides for companies, as well as the economic lifeline it offers to thousands of smaller communities across the country that have little or no airline service.

“The conventions provide a moment to connect with policy leaders–many of whom are involved in decisions that directly affect the industry–and share the positive stories about the value of general aviation in their communities,” said NBAA senior vice president of government affairs Lisa Piccione. “It’s important that general aviation be represented at both conventions, since support for GA doesn’t divide along partisan lines, and NBAA has always worked with leaders in both parties to promote policies that advance the industry’s interests.”
