Dassault Falcon has established a wholly owned foreign company, Dassault Falcon Business Services (Beijing) Co., in China to represent its business jet brand in this growing market. Jean Michel Jacob has been named as general manager of the subsidiary and John Rosanvallon is its chairman.
In 2010, four years after Dassault Falcon sold its first new Falcon in China in 2006, it set up an international sales and marketing office in Beijing. Earlier this year, it opened another office in mainland China, in Shanghai. In addition, the company established an office in Hong Kong several years ago.
As part of the subsidiary, Dassault Falcon will open a regional customer service headquarters in Beijing early next year that will be lead by Kathy Liu, director of customer service for Asia. This office will receive and process spare parts orders, as well as warranty and FalconCare claims. At least two type-rated Falcon pilots will also be based at the Beijing location to provide jump-seat support to Falcon customers.
Dassault said the number of Falcons operating in China will triple before the end of this year, growing from eight in early January to about two dozen by the end of next month. The company also has an order backlog for 20 Falcon 7Xs from Chinese customers.
