Charter operator Fast Air, based in Winnipeg, Canada, did its first Halo 250 gross weight increase modification on a Beechcraft King Air 200 equipped for aeromedical transport. Fast Air also offers aircraft management, maintenance and consulting services. The Halo 250 mod adds 920 pounds of payload capacity by increasing the maximum takeoff weight to 13,420 pounds, up from 12,500.
The Halo 250 mod was developed by CenTex Aerospace of Waco, Texas, and FAA certification was granted last October after three years of effort.
Halo 250 is compatible with many other STCs, including Raisbeck modifications, BLR winglets and Blackhawk and StandardAero engine conversions, as well as Garmin G1000 and Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics.
In Fast Air’s case, the company found some Halo drawings that didn’t match the aeromedical configuration of its King Air 200. “The CenTex Halo team quickly responded and provided on-site assistance followed by approved drawings in a matter of days,” said Fast Air director of maintenance Dennis Lyons. The Fast Air King Air 200 is equipped with a Garmin G1000 avionics system.
CenTex also announced that it has selected Elliott Aviation as an authorized Halo 250 installation center.
