The Bombardier Learjet 75 light jet–a longer-range version of the Learjet 45 with Garmin G5000 integrated avionics, redesigned winglets and more efficient Honeywell TFE731-40BR engines–received U.S. FAA certification on Thursday. Deliveries have already begun for U.S. and Canadian customers, a Bombardier Aerospace spokeswoman told AIN. Certification and delivery efforts are pending for its smaller sibling, the Learjet 70.
“We are delighted to have received FAA certification for the Learjet 75,” said Bombardier Business Aircraft vice president and general manager for Learjet Ralph Acs. “This jet is clearly a leader among its peers with its [Garmin G5000-based] Bombardier Vision flight deck, offering unmatched capability in its segment, the class-defining performance and efficiency improvements, as well as a completely new interior. This aircraft, along with its smaller-sibling Learjet 70, clearly have a bright future in business aviation.”
The new jet’s enhanced performance comes from the thrust increase of the improved Honeywell engine, which delivers up to a 9-percent improvement in hot-and-high takeoff field performance as well as a 4-percent increase in fuel efficiency, compared to the Learjet 45. In addition, the new Vision flight deck, with touch screen controls, reduces aircraft weight, and the new canted winglets improve aerodynamic efficiency. With these enhancements, the Learjet 75 can fly more than 2,000 nm at cruise speeds of up to Mach 0.81.
