Epic Aircraft said it remains on schedule to certify its E1000 all-composite turboprop single by the middle of next year. Deliveries of the $2.75 million airplane are slated to begin in the second half of next year.
The E1000 will be a certified version of the kit-built Epic LT with a 1,200-shp Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6-67A engine and Garmin G1000 glass cockpit. Preliminary performance and specifications include a 325-knot top cruise speed, 1,600-nm range and a 34,000-foot ceiling.
“We already have new confirmed reservations for more than 10 E1000s and we haven’t yet started to market,” said Epic CEO Doug King. “Our performance and price distinguish us in the industry, so we are ramping manufacturing to meet that demand.” On this note, Epic recently purchased a 204,000-sq-ft manufacturing facility in Bend, Ore., that was formerly owned by Cessna and Columbia Aircraft.
“We are firmly committed to achieving certification for the E1000. We have the resources, the knowledge and the experience to make it happen,” said King. Final customer builds of experimental Epic LTs will continue throughout this year, but the company is not taking any more orders for this model, he added.
