Sabreliner Opens New Paint Shop

Sabreliner has opened a new $7 million aircraft paint hangar at its Perryville Municipal Airport facilities in Perryville, Mo.

The 32,000-sq-ft facility, sized to accommodate aircraft up to the size of a GIV, includes a large bay for stripping and prep work and another for paint application. The climate-controlled facility features a three-stage filtration system. Workers use an electrostatic paint process that reduces the amount of paint used as well as the total emissions.
Flying Colours Delivers Fifth Global Refurb

Flying Colours of Peterborough, Ontario, has completed its fifth Global Express refurbishment and maintenance project in the past 12 months. The airplane has been delivered to its Malaysian owner.

The interior refurbishment restored all the interior soft woods and woodwork, and an upgrade of the entertainment system includes iPad holders and iPod docks. During the downtime, Flying Colours also performed numerous maintenance inspections and airframe and systems modifications.
Associated Air Rolls Out 23rd BBJ

Associated Air Center recently rolled out its 23rd green completion of a BBJ. The single-aisle bizliner was delivered to an unidentified Eastern European-based energy company customer and features a “cabin management system incorporating in-flight entertainment [and] Wi-Fi cabin connectivity.”

The StandardAero company also recently signed a contract for completion of an Airbus A330-200.

CTT Racking Up ‘Cair’ Package Orders

CTT Systems is piling up contracts for its Cair cabin humidification system.

In early August the Nykoping, Sweden-based company announced an order for a Cair package from Lufthansa Technik. The system is being installed in a 747-8 undergoing outfitting at the German completion center’s Hamburg facilities.

With unemployment numbers in the U.S. stuck on high, word of job openings is always welcome news. A substantial number of new aerospace jobs have evolved from some unlikely sources this year: non-U.S.-based companies. Brazilian aircraft builder Embraer opened a $50 million final manufacturing facility for the Phenom 100 and 300 in Melbourne, Fla., last year, employing 233 people.

AviaPrestige Brings Cabin Refurbs to Russian Owners

Russian aircraft interiors specialist AviaPrestige has forged an alliance with business aviation services group Avcom to make cabin refurbishment more readily available to aircraft owners in Russia. At Jet Expo this week in Moscow, the company announced that it has established a facility within the Avcom’s engineering base at Moscow Domodedovo Airport so that interior work can be done while aircraft are undergoing maintenance there.
Amac Expands Bizav Services with New Hangar

Five years after its founding by former Jet Aviation chief Heinz Koehli, Amac Aerospace has significantly strengthened its credentials as a business aviation services group with the opening of its third hangar in Basel, Switzerland, last week. This also comes on the heels of the company’s setting up a new maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility in Istanbul, Turkey.
Comlux Opens New Aircraft Completions Hangar at Indianapolis International Airport

Comlux America inaugurated its new bizliner completions facility at Indianapolis International Airport last week. The 129,000-sq-ft hangar and supporting back shops can simultaneously accommodate up to four single-aisle bizliners. According to Comlux, the facility carries EASA, FAA, Bermuda, GACA (Saudi Arabia) and Aruban Part 145 repair station approvals to support a global clientele.
Rockwell Collins Releases Airshow Moving Map iPad App

Rockwell Collins released an iPad app for its Airshow moving-map system. It allows existing Airshow 4000 or Venue HD cabin management system users to interactively “view the world around them and stay informed during their journey.” A panoramic view allows passengers to see a moving map of the outside world from any direction the iPad is pointed.
