FLIR Systems is showcasing three new compact multi-sensor systems developed to maintain the company’s position as a leader in this field. Each is a derivative of an earlier model but incorporates an advance in technology that results in improved performance.
The SeaFLIR III, for example, incorporates a laser rangefinder and optional laser pointer accommodated inside the compact 9-inch system. As the name implies, this multi-sensor thermal imaging system is optimized for the maritime environment, having been engineered and tested to withstand harsh conditions. When mounted on a fixed- or rotary-wing aircraft, SeaFLIR III is ideal for search and rescue (SAR) or intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) tasks and if required can be integrated into a command and control system.
The TacFLIR III is also the latest development of a tried and tested system, more than 250 of which have been fielded for extreme military environment. Promoted for use on both manned and unmanned platforms, TacFLIR III has been applied to several major U.S. military programs and can be easily integrated with optional multi-sensor payloads.
Reflecting the burgeoning unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) market, the Micro-STAR III is claimed to set a new standard in UAV payloads in terms of sensor flexibility and performance to meet the demands of multiple missions. The system is fully capable of supporting a variety of autonomous preplanned operations, delivering sharp long-range imaging and target search and track capabilities in a variety of battlefield conditions.
Optimized for use on small, weight-restricted aircraft, the MicroSTAR III’s low profile 9-inch gimbal is claimed to be the lightest and smallest multi-sensor available. Its light weight and minimized drag allows UAVs to stay on station longer, while advanced stabilization produces virtually jitter-free images.
