The Boeing 777-200LR Worldliner which made a record flight between Hong Kong and London earlier this month was equipped with technology from AeroMobile, a joint venture between Arinc and Telenor, enabling passengers to use cell phones en route.

The AeroMobile system is designed to use the Inmarsat Aero H, H+ and I satellite communications systems already installed on many long-haul commercial aircraft, and to support new higher-capacity broadband satellite services as they become available.

Arinc is also planning to expand its portfolio of aeronautical voice and data communications services, with rollout of voice and data services using the Iridium Satellite constellation during the first quarter of 2006. The company says it is pursuing agreements with several Iridium hardware providers.
