It was only the opening day of EBACE and Embraer’s order book was already in a growth mode, with firm orders for a Legacy 600 and three Phenom 100s logged.
VLJ Consultancy Ltd. ordered one Phenom 100 on behalf of private investors and took options on two more, with the first delivery scheduled for 2012. The aircraft will be operated by VLJ Consultancy in a private charter and air taxi role out of Oxford Airport in the UK.
The Phenom 100 program got another shot in the arm with an agreement with the Finnish Aviation Academy for two aircraft to be used in flight training. They will replace the academy’s fleet of aging turboprops, with first delivery set for 2010.
Embraer’s sales of the Legacy 600, an executive/VIP variant of its ERJ 135 regional jet, are now well past the 115 mark and the latest order was won yesterday, from Linxair Business Airline. The airplane is to be delivered this year and will be the second in service with the Slovenian charter operator. Flying out of the capital city of Ljubljana, the Legacy 600 has allowed Linxair to expand its operations well across most of central Europe.
Embraer further announced here that Abu Dhabi-based Prestige Jet will operate the first Lineage 1000 to go into service. The airplane will be managed by Prestige Jet on behalf of owner Aamer Abdul Jalil Al Fahim. An executive/VIP version of Embraer’s EMB 190 airliner, the airplane is currently in the final stages of cabin completion work at PATS Aircraft Completions in Georgetown, Delaware, where the facility is also at work on the second Lineage 1000.
The Middle East appears to be a growing market for the Lineage. A firm order placed last November by Al Jaber Aviation of Abu Dhabi was for five Lineage 1000s, the first of which is due to arrive in May 2010. The order included options for another two 1000s.
