A commitment today for 12 A330neos and eight A330s from Russia’s Transaero gave Airbus its sixth customer for the re-engined widebody, launched with a memorandum of understanding from Air Lease Corporation for 25 units on the first day of the show. It also concluded a sales rally by Airbus that resulted in the company winning business worth $75 billion, making this the most commercially successful Farnborough show in its history.

All told, Airbus logged new orders and commitments for 469 airplanes at the show, including 121 A330neos. In the single-aisle sector, Airbus drew 363 commitments worth $39 billion, including orders for 217 A320neos and 100 A321neos, increasing the family’s firm order total to more than 3,000. Airbus reached the milestone when SMBC Aviation Capital ordered 110 A320neos, marking the show’s biggest contract in the narrowbody sector.

“The orders and commitments we’ve received at this record-breaking Farnborough for both the A330neo and A320neo families are together an unequivocally resounding endorsement for these most cost-efficient aircraft,” said Airbus COO for customers John Leahy. “For both our single-aisle and widebody categories, the high representation of lessors–widely regarded as the global ‘barometer’ of the industry–is indicative of the long term confidence in the capacity needs for sustainable growth for the airlines in the years ahead.”

A great start for Airbus with huge orders for the New A-330 NEO and A-320 NEO. I was sorry to read the mud slinging at the start from Boeing and I don,t think that this sort of thing does the Aircraft Industry any good at all.

The best Aircraft will get the Sales , who ever manufactures them ! Airbus are very strong players and Boeing does not like the very keen competition that they give them.

Considering Airbus started just Forty Years ago with the Big Twin A-300 they have come a force to be reconed with , and thats the way it should be.
